Courtney Browne currently serves as General Counsel of Birchbox, Inc., the beauty company changing the way women and men discover and shop for beauty and grooming products in the U.S. and Europe. At Birchbox, Courtney oversees all legal matters for the company, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and litigation.
Prior to joining Birchbox in 2014, Courtney was an associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP where she represented buyers and sellers in public and private mergers, acquisitions and bankruptcy proceedings. Courtney spent three years working as a financial analyst at Fifth ThirdBancorp in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio before attending law school.
Courtney graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and minors in Spanish and Art History. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School. While at Columbia she was very involved with the Black Law Students’ Association, was a staff member of the Journal of Law and Social Problems and served as the Business Managing Editor of the National Black Law Journal.
When not at work, Courtney spends her time volunteering, traveling and enjoying her adoptive home of Harlem.
